Newcastle United reportedly want to sign 35-year-old South American

According to reports, Newcastle United are considering former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero as a replacement for Karl Darlow.

After Claudio Bravo failed to impress at City last season, Caballero was used in 16 of Pep Guardiola’s teams Premier League outings last season and at 36, the Argentinian goalkeeper also has plenty of experience under his belt, having played more than 100 times for Spanish clubs Elche and Malaga respectively.

After not being viewed as part of City’s future plans, Caballero was released from the club at the end of this past season.

According to reports, Karl Darlow could be allowed to leave the Magpies after losing his first choice goalkeeping position within the club. Tim Krul also failed to convince during his loan spells in Holland this past season it remains to be seen whether Rafa Benitez views him as part of his future plans.

Should the Magpies need a new keeper to challenge for their first choice position, Caballero would be a good addition.
