According to reports, Newcastle United are willing to meet Arsenal’s £15 million evaluation for defender Kieran Gibbs.
Gibbs has fallen down the pecking order at the Gunners this past season and is currently second choice to Nacho Monreal. Should Sead Kolasinac arrive at the Emirates this summer as many expect, Gibbs’ first team opportunity could be further limited.
Though Paul Dummett impressed for the Magpies last season, Achraf Lazaar and Jesus Gamez were less than convincing and now manager Rafa Benitez wants to bolster his defence ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Gibbs would be a good addition to the Magpies especially considering his vast experience at the highest level. During his time with Arsenal, the 27-year-old Gibbs has made 136 Premier League appearances as well as 43 appearances in the Champions League.
He will also likely be open to a move to the newly Premier League outfit considering that they will most probably offer him game time.
