Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin is set to return to the Magpies in time for their pre-season training camp after being left out of the preliminary United States squad that will play in the Concacaf Gold Cup.
US coach Bruce Arena is seemingly looking to use the tournament in order to give experience to fringe players and omitted American stars who ply their trade in Europe including Yedlin, Stoke City’s Geoff Cameron and Germany based Fabian Johnson.
Yedlin has established himself as a key player for both club and country and was one of the best players during the USA’s 1-1 draw with Venezuela on Saturday.
He will likely start during the United States’s upcoming games against Trinidad and Tobago on Friday and against Mexico on June 12th.
Yedlin, who is renowned for his electric pace, will likely spend some time during the off-season holidaying in his native USA before returning to the Magpies for pre-season training ahead of the Premier League.
