Four high profile names drop out from the Leeds United managerial race

According to reports, Leeds United are not considering Aitor Karanka for their vacant managerial position, despite numerous rumors over the past few days suggesting that the former Middlesbrough manager is the favorite to succeed Gary Monk.

When the Whites announced the appointment of former Middlesbrough’s former head of recruitment Victor Orta as director of football, many were led to believe that Karanka would likely be the next manager of the Yorkshire club.

Karanka and Orta have worked together at Boro and helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League during the 2015-16 season.

It now appears that former Swansea boss Michael Laudrup and Simon Grayson, who were also linked with the vacant Leeds position, are also not being considered.

Former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has also been linked with the position, however when asked about the speculation linking him with a move to Elland Road, the Italian said, “I don’t know anything about this Leeds story. I haven’t spoken to them.”
