West Ham strong favourites to sign Republic of Ireland international attacker

Popular bookmakers SkyBet have made West Ham 7/2 favorites to complete the signing of Southampton striker Shane Long this summer.

West Ham have had a disappointing season and are looking to bring in fresh faces to the squad in order to finish well within the top half of the Premier League next season.

The 30-year-old Long has plenty of experience and is renowned for his hard work on the field however he is not a preferable first choice forward for the Hammers given his goal scoring stats.

The Republic of Ireland international has notched only 85 goals from 362 career League appearances. This season he managed just three goals from 32 appearances in the Premier League for the Saints.

He will be a good backup striker but not ideally what Hammers fans will be looking for to provide goals on a regular basis.

Sky Bet have also listed Burnley as 7/2 second favorites to land Long while newly promoted Huddersfield Town are 12/1 third favorites to sign the experienced striker.
