This Wednesday, May 31, 2017 (10:30 AM Pacific) Italy will host San Marino in an International Friendly match at the Stadio Carlo Castellani. The match should be an interesting one with several young players on both sides and should produce an entertaining affair.
Italy will have the upper hand in the duel having the more talented players and the home-field advantage. The Blues will have an alternate squad with several young players who all play domestically in the Serie A. Some of the more intriguing players that received the call for this encounter include Danilo Cataldi of Genoa, Andrea Petagna of Atalanta and Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo. The inexperienced squad should be exciting to watch with most of the players receiving their first callups to Gli Azzurri.
San Marino will also have a young and inexperienced side who mostly play domestically but not by choice. The microstate does not have a revered footballing history and should have a tough match here coming from six consecutive losses in their last six games in all competitions. San Marino did not only lose these encounters but was outscored 33-1, its worst loss coming on April 6, 2016, falling 10-0 against Croatia. In San Marino’s latest match the team lost 6-0 against the Czech Republic on March 23, 2017. The match should be an interesting one with Italy’s young talent on the pitch but should prove to be a mismatch.
