According to reports, the sale of Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci could break down following Empoli’s relegation from the Italian Serie A.
After joining Empoli on loan last summer, Bellusci established himself as a first team regular and went on to make 32 appearances in the Serie A this season.
Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay has revealed that the deal could collapse due to the relegation of Empoli and wrote on social media site Twitter, “Bellusci and Empoli relegated from Serie A. Casts some doubt over a permanent move.”
Empoli were relegated this weekend after enduring a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Palermo. Should the sale of Bellusci not go ahead, it still remains unlikely that the player will have any future at Leeds.
The 27-year-old Bellusci was reportedly unhappy with life in England and it is reportedly his aim to remain in Italy plying his trade.
