Aston Villa and Wolverhampton target 24-year-old Championship star

According to reports, Aston Villa and Wolves are two clubs who are interested in signing soon to be out of contract Barnsley midfielder Josh Scowen.

The 24-year-old has opted to not sign a new deal at Oakwell and his form from this season will attract many potential suitors, with Fulham and Brentford also reportedly interested.

Scowen was one of the most influential players for Barnsley this season and his versatility in midfield makes him a particularly useful squad member.

The Cheshunt born Scowen also played a vital role for Barnsley last season as they won promotion from League One back to the Championship and he scored three goals and contributed three assists for his club this season from 44 matches in all competitions.

Scowen will want to leave Barnsley considering that he is receiving offers from clubs who will be expected to challenge for Premier League promotion next season.
