According to reports, Tottenham are in pole position to sign Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, who is set to be sold this summer.
Toffees manager Ronald Koeman had told Barkley that should he not sign a new deal before the end of the season, he will be sold. Now that that deadline is passed, a sale is on the cards. The 23-year-old Barkley currently has two years remaining on his current deal at Goodison Park.
Barkley has been criticized by Koeman in the past and did not receive regular game time during the first half of this past season, before establishing himself within the team during the second half.
From 39 appearances in all competitions this season, the attacking midfielder scored six goals and recorded nine assists. It now appears that Barkley is preparing for a fresh challenge.
Tottenham would certainly be an exciting club for him to join especially given that they will be competing in the Champions League next season.
