The second leg of the Liga MX Quarterfinals between Chivas of Guadalajara and Atlas will be held this Sunday, May 14, 2017 (4:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Chivas. In the first leg at the Estadio Jalisco the ‘rojinegros’ won with a 1-0 score after a penalty kick by forward Matias Alustiza.
Chivas has their most important game of the year when they host their in-city rivals. The team coached by Matias Almeyda is obligated to win without receiving a goal to win the quarterfinal, while if they do receive then they need to win by two goals. The ‘rebaño sagrado’ played with a lot of enthusiasm last Thursday, yet they failed to be efficient in the offensive side.
Atlas is close to reaching the semifinals with a tie, a win, or if they lose by one goal (as long as they score). Almost no one expected the team coached by Jose Guadalupe Cruz to reach the playoffs, and more surprisingly to have a shot at reaching the semifinals. With an offense lead by Alustiza, the ‘zorros’ will have a tremendously difficult game where they will aim to be one step closer to a Liga MX final which they have not reached in many years.
