Sunderland star says he is not thinking about his future with the club

Sunderland striker Victor Anichebe has said that he choosing to focus on the remaining matches of the season rather than focus on his future with the club.

The Nigeria international’s current deal at the Stadium of Light expires during the summer and it remains to be seen whether he will remain at the club.

He said, “I’m not thinking about it at the moment, I just need to stay fit and help us get some wins, for the fans here and our ourselves.”

When fit, the 28-year-old has shown signs of class however as a result of injury setbacks, he has had to miss many games. With the Black Cats nine points adrift of safety, they look set to be relegated.

David Moyes team next take on fellow strugglers Middlesbrough next Wednesday, a match in which Anichebe will likely to start.

Due to the fact that Anichebe is very experienced and has scored a lot of goals in the Premier League, he will not be short of options and may be tempted to find a new club next season.
