Pochettino aiming bigger than just merely finishing above Arsenal

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that his club are focused on bigger things than finishing above London rivals Arsenal this season.

The North London club are likely to finish above Arsene Wenger’s side for the first time since 1995 which has been a popular talking point among football fans over recent weeks

Spurs led the Gunners for much of last season as they challenged Leicester City for the Premier League title; however a late season slump saw Arsenal usurp them to clinch second position in the League on the final day of the season.

When asked about the rivalry with Arsenal, Pochettino said, “I think we’re playing and fighting for bigger things. If we look at the bigger picture it’s to try to reduce the gap with Chelsea. I think today it’s not important the gap we have with Arsenal.”

Though Spurs are unlikely to catch Chelsea this season, they are arguably one of the sides that have progressed the most from the Premiership over recent years.
