Despite his club being rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings, Sunderland manager David Moyes has said that he is not giving up on trying to help the club avoid relegation this season.

The Black Cats are currently ten points adrift of safety with only eight matches left to play and are one of the teams that are expected by many to be relegated. With matches against big-guns such as Arsenal and Chelsea still to come, time is running out for Moyes’ men to deliver.

Speaking on Friday ahead of his team’s match against Manchester United on Sunday, Moyes said, “It’s a massive ask for us now, but we’re not relegated yet and we have a chance.

“We’ll push as hard as we can and sometimes one game can make a difference. Hopefully that game can be this weekend.”

All Moyes can do is remain positive under the circumstances, but from his vast experience in the game, he will know that avoiding relegation, especially considering the form of his team, will be a very difficult task.
