In week 13 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017, Necaxa will host Tigres UANL at the Estadio Victoria this Saturday, April 8, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific). Both teams are having disappointing tournaments and need the three points from the game.
Necaxa has been one of the worst teams this tournament currently with 10 points in penultimate place. The ‘rayos’ have not won in their last five matches, losing two and drawing three games, most recently coming off a 2-0 loss to Toluca away from home. The team from Aguascalientes has been one of the worst defensive teams this tournament having conceded 18 goals.
This does not go well with Alfonso Sosa’s pragmatic style of play and it is time for Sosa to adjust or it could cost his job. Edson Puch has been one of the few bright spots on this team with three goals and an assist in eight games as a starter. Necaxa will not have it easy and it will be tough for this shaky defense to contain such a potent offense like the one Tigres UANL does have.
Tigres UANL has not been impressive this tournament, currently in 13th place with 12 points, four points out of a playoff spot. The felines are coming from a shocking 1-0 loss to Leon in week 12 of the tournament. Leon is currently in last place in the Clausura and the match was played at Tigres’ fortress, the Estadio Universitario.
Tigres UANL does have the strongest defense this tournament, having only allowed nine goals but the felines also have one of the worst offenses with only 10 goals. Andre-Pierre Gignac has been one of the most disappointing players on the team with only two goals. The offense should be able to cause problems to Necaxa’s weak defense. The match should be interesting between two teams who have not lived up to their potential in this tournament.
