In week 12 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017, Pachuca will host Puebla at the Estadio Hidalgo this Saturday, April 1, 2017 (6:06 PM Pacific). Both teams are on opposite sides of the table and have distinct reasons to want the three points from the game.

Pachuca has been one of the better teams this tournament, currently in fifth place with 17 points, three points away from Chivas in first. The ‘tuzos’ are coming from a disappointing 3-0 loss to Queretaro away from home and will be looking to bounce back in this match. Diego Alonso does count with one of the best defenses in the league, having only conceded 10 goals up to this point, but his offense has been lacking, only scoring 10 goals. It will be tough to produce options going forward without Hirving Lozano, having to rely on other players like Franco Jara and Jonathan Urretaviscaya. The match should be a test for the ‘tuzos’ as Puebla is not the easiest opponent, but it should be a game Pachuca should be winning especially at home.

Puebla has been one of the worse teams this tournament, in 16th with only nine points. The ‘camoteros’ are no longer in relegation trouble but still need to accumulate points for the relegation race next season. While the team has been under Jose Cardozo it has managed to obtain some surprising results, most notably drawing 0-0 to Club America away from home and defeating Toluca 3-1 away from home.

The main players to watch will be Alexis Canelo, who has three goals and four assists and goalkeeper, Cristian Campestrini, who has 38 saves this Clausura. The match should be a hard-fought encounter between two teams that want the three points.
