Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has praised the versatility of Kieran Tierney and had no problems about the youngster starting at right back for the Scotland national team.
The 19-year-old delivered his usual resolute defending to help the Scots claim three valuable points during a World Cup qualification victory against Slovenia.
It was only the third international appearance for Tierney and despite lacking experience, Gordon was confident that he had the quality to cope in the international arena.
Gordon said, “I had asked him when the last time he played there was and he said it was when he was playing boys’ club football. But then I realized that wasn’t that long ago, so I thought it would be all right.”
Tierney was one of six Celtic players who participated in the game. His team-mate Stuart Armstrong continued his rich run of form by setting up Chris Martin for the winner as well as claiming the man of the match award.
