FutnSoccer Goals of the Week – Liga MX Week 2

Welcome to the second edition of the FutnSoccer Goals of the week.  Week 2 of the Liga MX was not as extraordinary as Week 1 in terms of goals, however, there were still a handful of good quality goals.  Remember that every week FutnSoccer will show a video with what we consider the ‘Best Goal of the Week’ and the ‘Most Important Goal of the Week’.  Come back after the games are done week-after-week to appreciate the quality and importance of these goals!

Best Goal of the Week:

This week, a player is responsible for scoring not only one, but the two best goals of the week. Christian ‘Chaco’ Gimenez scored the two goals in the Cruz Azul 2-0 victory against San Luis; the first one in a majestic free kick shot and the second in a playmaking wonder.  The free kick was a bullet that went over goalie Oscar Perez’s head while in the second goal he made a pair of quick moves that led to a potent shot on the far right corner. Difficult to consider which goal was better, decision is up to the viewer.

Most Important Goal of the Week:

Club America has extremely high expectations for the Clausura 2013 season. This means anything else other than a title would be a failure, therefore for this season they kept the base of the starting lineup plus the incorporation of 3 high quality players. On Friday night against Jaguares, the team from ‘coapa’ was tying 0-0, where they had good possession of the ball but not many scoring opportunities. Their first goal in the 58th minute is important not only because they would go on and win 2-0, but because it is a sign of how things may go for this team this season. Rubens Sambueza scored after a play in which the lines-man raised his flag calling an offside. Immediately after doing this he put it down realizing he had made the incorrect call but by now the Jaguares defenders had stopped running. This goal was purely based on a questionable call, similar to the game-winning penalty kick given to them in the first week. Bad calls or not, luck is with Club America this season, and this could be the luck of a title team. Begin watching video from minute 1:34.
