In the UEFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Portugal will host Hungary at the Estadio da Luz this Saturday, March 25, 2017 (12:45 PM Pacific). The match should be a solid one with two top teams in Group B of the competition playing each other.
Portugal is the clear favorite in this match, having the stronger side and the home-field advantage. The current UEFA Euros winners, are off to a great start in this Group B, undefeated with three wins and a draw, only three points behind Switzerland in first. Starman, Cristiano Ronaldo has had a marvelous campaign so far with seven goals in the competition so far.
While Ronaldo will be the focus of attention in the game, some young players like Renato Sanches and Bernardo Silva should also be interesting to watch. Monaco’s, Bernardo Silva has had a tremendous season with the principality side, scoring six goals and obtaining seven assists so far. Fernando Santos’ side should be able to come out on top in this game, especially at home, but Hungary can prove to be a tough opponent.
Hungary is currently in third in Group B of the competition with two wins, a draw and a loss. The two victories for the ‘Nemseti Tizenegy’ coming against Andorra, 4-0, and Latvia, 2-0. While Bernd Storck does not have nearly a strong a side as Portugal, he does still have some solid players at his disposal. One of the standouts for Hungary in this competition has been Hoffenheim’s, Adam Szalai who has been one of the top goalscorers in this qualifying stage with four goals. These two teams did meet in the 2016 Euros tournament, providing a very entertaining 3-3 draw. This game should be one of the best this weekend of the World Cup qualifiers and should offer plenty of goals.
