Garry Monk delighted at deal for star

Leeds United manager Gary Monk has revealed that he feels that the one year contract extension handed to veteran goalkeeper Rob Green was fully deserved.

The Whites revealed on their official club website that the 37-year-old had signed a one year extension to his contract with the club which was set to expire during the summer.

Monk was full of praise for the former West Ham and Queens Park Rangers after his team’s impressive 2-0 win over Championship title contenders Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

“Rob Green has been excellent, along with all of them,” said Monk to BBC Radio Leeds’ on Saturday evening after the victory over Brighton.

“His experience and the way he is, the example he sets – he deserves that [new deal] and we’re all delighted for him.”

With plenty of experience under his belt, Green’s input within the Whites squad will be key should the side win promotion to the Premier League.
