Ayoze Perez bemoans Newcastle United’s profilgacy

Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez was disappointed that his team missed chances as they played out to a 0-0 draw with Birmingham City on Saturday.

The 23-year-old admitted that his team lacked the cutting edge in front of goal on the day to pull off a win. He said, “We had a lot of chances, but we didn’t take them. I would say in both halves we were better than them.

“We were on the ball trying to create chances and we did, but the main thing is scoring goals and we didn’t do that today.”

Both Perez and fellow forward Daryl Murphy had great chances of their efforts saved by Blues goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

The dropped points will definitely come as a disappointment to the Magpies, who would have been looking to increase their stronghold of first position on the Championship standings.

Nonetheless, the draw takes the Magpies one point clear of second placed Brighton after they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Leeds United on Saturday.
