Whilst speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, Martin O’ Neill revealed that he feels that Sunderland still have the capabilities to avoid relegation this season.

David Moyes’ side have looked sluggish this season and sit in last position on the Premier League table, six points adrift of safety.

Despite the troubles, O’ Neill does believe that the Black Cats can once again avoid the drop, but insisted that they will have to win their upcoming games against Burnley and Watford in order to do so.

He said, “The next couple of games, I know that you don’t want to look that far in front, but I think they have targeted the next couple of games, which he [Moyes] thinks are winnable.”

The Black Cats head into their next game against Burnley having played three successive losses. The Cherries will be favorites for the game especially as they defeated West Ham during their last game.
