According to the Sun, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is prepared to sell striker Aleksandar Mitrovic during the summer. The Serbia international arrived at St. James Park 18 months ago but has failed to perform consistently and lies below Dwight Gayle and Daryl Murphy in the hierarchy.
Mitrovc has only made eight appearances this season and with most of his game time being off the bench, he surely will be frustrated with the lack of game time.
Newcastle currently first on the Championship standings and are widely expected to make a return to the Premier League next season. Benitez will be looking to add a consistent striker to his squad ahead of next season, which could result in Mitrovic being offloaded.
The Sun also suggested that there are Serie A as well as English clubs who are interested in the 22-year-old. A sale will perhaps be beneficial to both parties. Mitrovic has failed to adjust to life at St James Park since his move last season.
