Koeman confirms Everton set for talks over major deal

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that the club will enter talks with Ross Barkley over a new contract.

The England international has just 18 months left on his current deal and as a result of him not renewing as yet, speculation has emerged that he may be leaving Goodisan Park during the summer – with Manchester United and Tottenham reported as possible destinations.

Koeman however has admitted that the club will soon be looking to secure the services of Barkley for the long term.

According to Sky Sports, the manager said, “Yeah there are talks planned – I don’t think talks have started yet. Those players who finished the contract after one year, he’s one of them and we will do everything to keep Ross and sign a new contract.”

Everton fans will surely hope that Romelu Lukaku and Barkley renew their deals with the club as the duo could be key to their hope of building a trophy challenging team in the near future.
