Tottenham defeat bittersweet for Everton star

Lukaku

Everton’s 3-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon proved to be a bittersweet for talismanic striker Romelu Lukaku.

Despite been on the losing side, Lukaku also write his name in the Toffees’ history books by becoming the club’s all- time leading goal scorer in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old continued his finescoring form his season by scoring a goal in the second half after taking advantage of a mishap by fellow Belgian international Jan Vertonghen.

In the process, he netted his 61st goal for his club moving ahead of Duncan Ferguson, who was present at the game in his capacity as coach watching on from the Everton dugout.

Perhaps Lukaku’s historic goal was the only highlight of the game for fans of the Merseyside club. The Toffees nine match unbeaten run came to an end after a brace from Harry Kane and a further strike from Dele Alli cancelled out goals from Lukaku and Enner Valencia.
