Sunderland’s Fabio Borini has revealed that he feels that his goal drought this season is due to manager David Moyes playing him in different positions in midfield as an injury crisis affects the club.
Borini’s preferred role as central striker has been occupied by in form veteran Jermain Defoe, who has excelled by scoring 14 goals. He has been mainly deployed as support to Defoe or to the left or right of midfield.
“I need the goals, but more than anything I need to play every week and to know what my role is because it has changed so many times” said the Italy international who has scored just one goal since making a comeback from an injury layoff in December.
Jan Kirchhoff, Victor Anichebe and Duncan Watmore are all out injured and while Borini is happy to help out in their absence ,he does feel that players will do better in their natural positions.
