Sammy Ameobi may still be at Newcastle due to the club’s inability to give Rafa Benitez sufficient funds to make new signings during the January transfer window; however it seems that he is a changed player.
The 24-year-old spent the first half of the season with League One outfit Bolton Wanderers and after performing well, it was expected that he would join the club on a permanent basis.
However after the Magpies had failed to make any attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window, it was decided that Ameobi would be recalled.
Since arriving back at St James Park, Ameobi has played just 56 minutes. The Chronicle however have reported that manager Rafa Benitez has been happy with his improved fitness and attitude, so much so that it is uncertain whether he will be offloaded during the summer.
It is fairly certain however that had Benitez been given sufficient funds to make new signings, Ameobi would have not returned.
