Newcastle star says he was responsible for the club’s relegation

Newcastle Unites striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has told the Daily Star that he was responsible for the club’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

A lot was expected from the Serbian international after the Magpies purchased him for £13 million during the summer of 2015 from Belgian club Anderlecht.

He did not have the worst of starts to life in England and managed to bag nine goals, though he also became well-known for his bad behavior on the pitch.

He said: “I was part of the team that were relegated and I feel responsible. I want to try to help the team to get back. We’re on a good run now, though, and hopefully at the end of the season we’ll be back.”

Although Mitrovic feels that he was responsible for the club’s relegation last season, he is keen to help them back into the Premier League next season and in all probability, the Magpies and the striker will be plying their trade in the English top flight soon.
