The first game during Week 8 of the Liga MX Clausura 2017 will be held this Friday, February 24, 2017 (7:00 PM Pacific) when Xolos of Tijuana hosts Monterrey at the Estadio Caliente. This match is one of the must-watch games of the ‘jornada’ as these are two of the two best teams so far into the season.
Xolos of Tijuana had their most painful match last weekend in their visit against Pumas UNAM. After being in the lead with a 3-0 score, they were unable to hold-off their opponent and finished the game with a 3-3 tie. Although a tie there was a good result, the game felt like a loss, especially when considering that Xolos is losing spots at the top of the standings. This Friday the team coached by Miguel ‘Piojo’ Herrera will host one of two undefeated team in the league and ending their streak cannot come at a better time.
Rayados of Monterrey are currently in 4th place with 13 points after 3 wins and 4 ties. Coach Antonio Mohamed seems to finally return to his winning days as his team has performed consistently well and is a serious playoff and title contender. The game in Tijuana will be extremely difficult as Xolos are very difficult to defeat at home, yet Mohamed will use his positive streak plus his knowledge of his ‘old-home’ to gain at least a point.
