Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has announced that he has set himself a target of reaching double figures in terms of goals and assists by the end of the season.
Since manager Ronald Koeman deployed Barkley in a more advanced central midfield role over recent weeks, he has produced five goals and assists.
Barkley said: “Hopefully in the last few games of the season I can get into double figures. That’s my aim at the start of every season. I’ve got five (assists) at the minute as well and I aim to get double figures in both.”
Everton are currently in seventh position on the Premier League standings and will face off against basement club Sunderland on Saturday in a match that they will be expected to win.
The 23-year-old certainly has the capabilities of reaching his targets, having established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the Premiership this season and such ambitions will definitely assist the Merseyside club in attaining a top six position this season.
