Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has a word of advice for traditional rivals Rangers following the recent fiasco involving their now-former manager Mark Warburton.
Rodgers has warned the Rangers that they need to sort out their top management and create a harmony at the top level in the club if they want to create a conducive environment for the incoming manager.
Warburton controversially departed from Rangers last week, after spending almost one-and-a-half season at Ibrox.
He said: “I don’t know how it’s perceived. If you look at the fanbase, what’s there for home and away games, then people look at that. The key thing you look at as a manager before anything is the alignment at the top of the club.
“One in terms of shareholders and their interest. Two it’s strategy. If you don’t have that alignment you can put in what you want, a director of football or four managers – it’s very tough.
“If there is alignment at that level it will allow you to build, develop and grow. If a serious manager is looking at that it is something that has to be right. If they think it’s workable it can be a good job.”
Warburton’s exit from the club followed their below-par performances in the first half of the season. Rangers, who achieved promotion to SPL in the summer, currently occupy the third spot in the league behind Celtic and Aberdeen. The Celts enjoy a sizeable lead of 27 points over their fierce rivals.
Rangers are yet to make a decision regarding their next managerial appointment, but the likes of Leeds manager Gary Monk and former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett have been linked with the jobs.
