Sunderland manager David Moyes has reportedly disagreed with supporters who have claimed that the team’s players are not putting in enough effort in their bid to avoid Premier League relegation this season, according to the Chronicle.

The Black Cats’ 4-0 defeat to Southampton last weekend would have certainly frustrated fans and comes as a blow to the clubs hopes of Premiership survival. The Saints comprehensively dominated the game and fully deserved the win.

However despite their below par performances, Moyes has insisted that his men are not losing due to a lack of effort.

The Scottish boss said, “Look, I don’t think anybody goes out not to do their job. I think the players have given their all; it’s certainly not their effort.

“Maybe its quality, at times, whether it be on the ball, passing it or controlling it or defending and doing the right things.”

Sunderland will play their next game in two weeks in what will be a difficult encounter against high-flying Everton at Goodison Park.
