Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez has distanced himself from the recent reports that claim he is a potential candidate to take over Premier League big boys Arsenal in the summer.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is facing a tumultuous time in his job after witnessing his side’s another title bid crumble in the space of few days.
A report from the Daily Mirror claimed that Benitez features in the four-man shortlist that the North London club have drawn up in their bid to replace Wenger.
However, the Spaniard has dismissed the rumours and insists that he is only concentrating on Newcastle’s next game at the moment.
He said: “I am just concentrating on the Norwich game. As a manager, you know that people will talk.”
“But the main thing for me is to be sure we are doing well and doing our jobs.”
Benitez has previously managed the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in England. He tasted continental success with both clubs but never managed to claim the Premier League title.
Meanwhile, Wenger has rejected the suggestions that he is planning to call time on his 21-year spell with the Gunners.
