Newcastle man linked with a surprise move to Premier League giants

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has emerged as a shock candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the summer.

Wenger has come under a lot of fire following the Gunners’ recent capitulation in the league, and multiple reports have suggested that the current season might be his last with the North London club.

A number of names have already been linked with the job, and now the Daily Mirror has thrown Benitez’s name into the mix.

The report from the Mirror claims the Benitez figures among the shortlist of potential candidates that the club think could replace Wenger if he departs from the club in the summer.

The reported list contains the names of Monaco’s Leonardo Jardim, Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Tuchel and Barcelona’s Luis Enrique besides Benitez.

The report claims that Benitez will ask the club legend Thierry Henry to join his coaching staff if he is appointed for the job.

The rumour certainly won’t please both sets of fans as the Magpies currently sit at the top Championship and Benitez has become a fan-favourite during his short time at the club while the majority of Arsenal fans don’t rate him good enough to lead them to trophies.
