Week 6 of the Liga MX Clausura is filled with many potentially great games like Pachuca hosting Tigres UANL at the Estadio Hidalgo this Saturday, February 11, 2017 (5:06 PM Pacific). Both teams have performed under their full potential and need to start summing up points in this tournament.
Pachuca started off this Clausura 2017 tournament with a big 4-2 win over Leon away from home, but kind of fell off after that. Pachuca has just not looked like the offensive juggernaut it was perceived to be after week 1 of the competition. The ‘tuzos’ have only accumulated two points in the last three weeks and need to start doing better to stay relevant in this very competitive league. Hirving Lozano has not scored since the first week of the competition where he got a hat-trick against Leon. Lozano is among the biggest scoring threats in the league, having seven shots on target this tournament.
His quick feet and skillful play has also been a huge problem for defenders as he has received the most fouls this tournament with 26. Jonathan Urretaviscaya has been one of Diego Alonso’s main play-makers in this tournament, leading the league with three assists. The Uruguayan midfielder is also among the players who has had the most touches of the sphere in attack with 188. Urretaviscaya will need to connect with Lozano in this match for Diego Alonso’s side to find the glory and the three points.
Tigres has been the biggest disappointment starting off this Liga MX Clausura 2017, only achieving one win in five jornandas. The team from Nuevo Leon only has four points and has struggled in this tournament, most notably falling to Chiapas 1-0. Ricardo Ferretti’s lone victory of the season was oddly enough to Club America, who is another team that has struggled in this competition. Tigres still possess one of the best rosters in the continent with players like Andre-Pierre Gignac, Guido Pizarro, Ismael Sosa and now freshly signed Eduardo Vargas and Luis Advincula. It will be interesting to see if any of the new players do get a chance to feature for Ricardo Ferretti in this match.
Tigres has not playing bad this season, the team has just not been able to achieve the results. Ismael Sosa has had eight shots on target, while Guido Pizarro and Juninho are two of the players who have had the most complete passes this season. The team has not lost its class and playing ability it just has not been as effective and clinical as in the last tournament. This will be a big task for Ferretti and Tigres, and the team will need to be more potent to get the result at the Estadio Hidalgo.
