Pumas did not meet the expectations fans had assigned them for the Apertura 2012, and during the past month have done important changes to fix this.
1. Assistant coaches Guillermo Vazquez Sr and Juan De Dios Ramirez Perales join the first team to support Torres Servin in the task of bringing the team back to shape.
2. Robin Ramirez joins Pumas, a Paraguayan who was playing as a loan in Colombia and finished as top scorer last season with 13 goals. Pumas bought the player from Libertad in a reported 1.5 million dollar deal.
3. Ignacio Gonzalez comes from Morelia and is reportedly exchanged for Fernando Morales. Ignacio is seeking a position in the first team, seeing how the position he plays is currently occupied by Jose Antonio Garcia.
Pumas have played 4 pre-season games, all with good results: 3 wins against Lobos BUAP, Toros Neza and Pachuca and 1 tie against Tigres, they seem to be getting in shape for the upcoming season.
Torres Servin has stated that all of the players in the current squad are important and will be considered for every match. That being said, we hopefully will see more action from Luis Garcia, Martin Romagnolli and Jimmy Lozano, three players that should provide the experience that this young team needs.
There is nothing left to do but wait one more week and see if Pumas can redeem themselves in the Clausura 2013 and at least make the playoffs this season.
