Sunderland star explains why relegation rivals will be worried of the Black Cats

Sunderland player Sebastian Larsson has told the Daily Telegraph that clubs struggling to avoid relegation in the English Premiership “will be worried” by Sunderland’s reputation of avoiding the drop at the last minute.

Though Sunderland are currently last on the Premier League table, they are just two points behind 15th placed Middlesbrough. They will also have a sense of renewed confidence after claiming an impressive 0-0 draw against high flying Tottenham and thrashing fellow strugglers Crystal Palace 4-0.

Since joining Sunderland from Birmingham City in 2011, Larsson has become used to taking part in relegation battles. He helped the club finish three points clear of relegation in 2012-13, five points clear in 2013-14, three points clear in 2014-15 and just two points clear last season.

It remains to be seen whether Sunderland will once again complete a great escape this season or if their luck will finally run out. However they will definitely have hope.
