A day after Didi Hamann bashed the Anfield club for giving Jurgen Klopp a six year deal, former Reds legend Jamie Carragher has continued his remarks about the club. Carragher, a pundit nowadays has questioned the club on their handling of the transfer window.
Speaking to Sky Sports, ‘Carra’ said the window was a “major disappointment” before adding that he wasn’t sure if “it was down to the manager or the board.” He then said “Liverpool needed something.”
Carragher is absolutely right here, but we all knew (or should have known that this was coming). Jurgen Klopp has said from day one, way back last October, that he did not like this window. He’s repeated it time and time again.
Last season he bought one player, Marko Grujic. He sent him back to his club on loan. He’s still on the bench, most nursing injuries even now. So, to have expected anything was to set yourself up for disappointment.
That’s what has happened now. Liverpool need to get things settled with the players that they have, and they’ve got to stop making excuses for the window they did (not) have. It’s over and done, and it’s time to move forward.
