Newcastle United fans given a major cause for concern

Rafa Benitez’s long term future as manager of Newcastle United could be in doubt after it has emerged that he has lost control over the clubs transfer policy, according to the Independent.

Benitez has been promised £30 million to spend on new players by Newcastle owner Mike Ashley. He earned an additional £30 million via sales of players who were surplus to requirements.

However, he was frustrated to learn that he was not given the go ahead to use additional funds and make any new signings during the recent transfer window

Benitez was keen on making additions to his team who are fighting for automatic promotion to the Premier League next season and wanted to sign Andros Townsend.

However the loan deal for the player fell through after Newcastle refused to pay the loan fee which Crystal Palace had requested.

While Benitez will in all likelihood remain with the Magpies until the end of the season, his lack of control over club transfers must frustrate him and it remains to be seen whether he will remain at the club next season.

If he does indeed leave, the fans will surely be disappointed and may look to turn on Ashley once again.
