Everton reportedly miss out on the signing of Chelsea man

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are set to miss out on capturing Branislav Ivanovic from Chelsea with Zenit St Petersburg reportedly in talks with the player.

The Blues were one of three Premier League clubs linked with the player along with reigning Champions Leicester City and West Ham (Liverpool Echo). Ivanovic looks set to leave English football after 9 years with Chelsea. He joined the club from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008 and appears to be set towards returning to Russia.

Ivanovic’s contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season and he is likely to be allowed to leave on a free transfer to gain more regular playing time and Zenit are keen to sign him during the weekend on a three and a half year deal.

Ivanovic was said to be on Everton boss Ronald Koeman’s radar as a replacement for the veteran Phil Jagielka who looks set to leave the Merseyside club.
