Everton have been dealt a blow in their desire to lure Franck Kessie from Serie A club Atalanta. Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato have reported that Roma have submitted an offer for the Ivorian that would see their player Leandro Paredes head in the opposite direction.
Although no deal is as yet finalized, this may reduce Koeman’s chances of signing Kessie. Koeman was keen to add Kessie to his squad prior to the transfer window ending.
Calcio Mercato have also reported that Atalanta are keen on the deal with Roma since they will receive Paredes as well as a big transfer fee.
Everton will have to take swift action if they wish to sign Kessie and will have to be prepared to fork out a large amount of cash. They are certainly not afraid of spending big as they did to lure Yannick Bolasie to Goodison Park for a fee believed to be £25 million.
