Celtic Can Reach Historic Record This Wednesday

A record that has been held for 50 years now is set to be equaled on Wednesday, as Celtic will host St Johnstone in what would otherwise be an assumed cake walk.  The record set all those years ago of 26 Scottish domestic matches unbeaten was set by the side managed by the great Jock Stein.

Stein’s side were playing in a day and age where the league was much closer and tighter than what Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side are having to deal with.  Back then, this was a massive accomplishment.  That’s not to belittle Rodgers, but it has almost become expected now that they will tie and then break the record.

This is the sort of pressure that will truly see these players develop or welt away, especially the young players.  This is a grand opportunity to drive them on to be better footballers.  They can win the Treble and possibly remain unbeaten all that time.

Rodgers’ side have more points and victories that Stein’s, but Stein’s side did score more goals.  So, which side is truly better?  Will Wednesday give us the answer we want or will continue to confound us?
