Celtic’s Rodgers Piles Pressure onto His Side

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, formerly of Liverpool and Swansea City, has never been shy about saying questionable things.  He’s done in once again, as he’s spoken to the Daily Record ahead of his side’s Scottish Cup tie away to Albion Rovers.

Rodgers harkens back to the days of the Lisbon Lions, the greatest team to ever feature for the green and white clad side.  That side went 26 matches undefeated, and Rodgers is hoping his side are able to do that feat in this coming week.

Rodgers then goes on to say that they have to uphold the traditions of the Lisbon Lions, to be an attacking side, and to create “history.”  You can see what he is doing here, but in reality it’s just heaping pressure on a lot of young men.

Rodgers didn’t, however, mention anything about the Treble, so then again maybe he’s not piling too much pressure upon himself.

Football in Scotland needs to see a resurgent Celtic (and Rangers).  The whole world of football could do good from it.  Let’s just hope this isn’t a slip up in this case.  A loss now, especially against Albion Rovers, could send all of the good spiraling downward into the abyss.
