According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton have agreed to loan Tom Cleverley to Watford for the remainder of the season. Cleverley, once a Manchester United player, signed on a free in 2015. He is still just 27 years old, despite how long he seems to have been around.
Cleverley has found chances to play tough to come by under Ronald Koeman. Koeman has really sought to change things around since he departed St Mary’s for Goodison Park, and Cleverley has been one of the men he’s chopped.
The deal is thought to also include an option for it to be made permanent, which would probably be to the benefit of Everton. Any transfer fee would help them recoup the wages paid to him, and it would maybe end up being a profit as well.
Cleverley has long been a very underrated player when he is on his game. He was tremendous some years back when he was on loan at Wigan. Maybe another loan spell will reignite his career. Watford do need some help getting games under control, and Cleverley is versatile, so Walter Mazzarri can use him in various tactical alignments.
