Klopp Gives Optimistic Injury Update Ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup Match

Jurgen Klopp provided an optimistic injury update on Jordan Henderson and Marko Grujic, both are close to returning to action, but will still need to wait a week or so to be match fit.

Henderson was injured in the 1-0 win against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve, which will keep him out of the FA Cup third-round tie against Plymouth Argyle, and will likely sideline him in the EFL Cup semi-final, first leg match against Southampton next Wednesday.

Klopp stated “He has no chance for the weekend and I am sure [there’ll be] no risk for Southampton, but then I think it is absolutely possible that he’s back.”

Grujic is still recovering from a tendon issue. and Klopp stated “Yes [he is still injured], but he is on a good way too. Maybe the end of this week or the start of next week he will be back in team training.”

Although both players will miss out on the FA Cup match against Plymouth, and possibly the EFL semi-final, it is likely that Henderson will be ready for the January 15 match against Manchester United, and Grujic soon thereafter.
