Everton, long rumored to have an interest in former Southampton man Morgan Schneiderlin, have reportedly had a bid of around £19m turned down by Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, according to the Guardian.
Schneiderlin is a former player under Ronald Koeman, and Koeman is very interested in reuniting with the Frenchman as he seeks to put his stamp on the midfield.
Schneiderlin would fill in a hole that Koeman has had difficulty filling in. He’s not taken to central midfielder James McCarthy very well, and there are thoughts that Gareth Barry has finally ran out of steam to play at such a high level.
On the other hand, Schneiderlin has not been a favorite of Jose Mourinho so far this season at United, and it will likely be shipped out.
The question is where to and for what price. There are rumored to be two main parties interested: Everton and West Brom. If West Brom can bid enough, we could see him turning up there. Either way, expect him to be suiting up in a color other than red relatively soon.
