According to sources at the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is set to turn his attentions to Red Bull Leipzig man Emil Forsberg in an attempt to strengthen his side in the January transfer window. With Sadio Mane leaving to take part in the African Cup of Nations and the long rumored pursuit of American Christian Pulisic seemingly over, the Reds are said to be turning to £20million man Forsberg to sure up an already impressive attack.
Forsberg would be a tremendous signing as he has all of the traits that Klopp loves in an attacker: he’s very hard working, capable of passing just as well as he can shoot, and he’s versatile.
The Swede has helped Red Bull jump into a remarkable title challenge with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, and he could be set for even bigger things now if Liverpool and Klopp have their way.
However, it would be hard to see this one going through in this window because of how well he has done for Red Bull so far this season. If they were to let him go, they’d potentially be surrendering a title challenge or even losing out on the Champions League.
The Bundesliga has a funny way of punishing sides in the second half of the season sometimes, after all. So, don’t expect it to get done until the summer, if ever.
