Manchester United want to sign Monaco attacker Bernardo Silva in January, according to the Daily Express.
The report suggests United have been impressed with Silva’s performances this season and have identified him as a leading transfer target for next month’s transfer window.
However, the 22-year-old Portugal international has played down the speculation linking him with a move away from France, saying he’s happy to stay at Stade Louis II.
“For the moment, I feel very good at Monaco,” Silva is quoted as saying by the Daily Express.
“They’re the club that has enabled me to play at this level.
“The ambition of players is of course to play in Spain or England one day, but for the moment, I feel very good at Monaco.”
Silva moved to Monaco from Portuguese champions Benfica two years ago and has since established himself as one of the most promising creative players in European football.
He’s already made 20 appearances on all competitions for Leonardo Jardim’s side this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists.
Silva’s primary position is on the right wing, but he’s also perfectly capable of playing on the left or behind the striker as an advanced playmaker.
Even though United have plenty of options in attack this season, there could be a spot for another offensive player in the squad if Ashley Young and Memphis Depay leave the English giants in January as expected.
Silva is one of Monaco’s most important players and Jardim would definitely want to keep him at least until the end of the season, but the French club would find it very hard to reject a lucrative offer from Manchester United, even if it comes in January.
