Report: Arsenal open negotiations over a prospective £20million move for striker

Arsenal have opened negotiations with AC Milan for the services of striker Carlos Bacca, according to the Sun.

The report claims Arsene Wenger is keen to improve his side’s striking options in January and has targeted a £20m move for the Colombian next month.

Wenger is reportedly worried his team’s injury problems in attack could prove costly for the Gunners’ chances of winning the title this season and has made signing a striker his number one priority for the next transfer window.

The 30-year-old Colombian signed a 4-year deal with AC Milan in 2015 and has generally been a good signing for the Rossoneri, but has reportedly fallen out of favour with manager Vincenzo Montella due to the striker’s decision to train with his former club Sevilla without the Italian giants’ permission.

Bacca watched Sevilla’s game against Valencia on November 26th live instead of attending his current club’s game at Empoli.

Bacca’s actions have riled up the AC Milan fans and it seems like his January departure is the most likely scenario.

The Colombian is yet to play a single minute for AC Milan since his impulsive trip to Spain.

Despite Bacca’s recent actions, he’s been very effective in Italy, scoring 24 goals in 51 league games for the 7-time European Champions since his move last year.

He’s scored 6 goals in 13 Serie A appearances so far this season. Bacca has obvious disciplinary and attitude problems, but he’d still be a decent signing for Arsenal, simply because he’s a clinical goalscorer.

Alexis Sanchez has been doing very well as a central forward for Arsenal this season, but it would still be a good idea to have another reliable option in attack for the second part of the season.
