Report: £20m-rated Manchester United flop set for January exit

Out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is expected to leave Old Trafford in the January transfer window, with Everton and West Bromwich Albion both interested in his services, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The report claims Schneiderlin is Ronald Koeman’s transfer priority for the winter transfer window, but the Toffees face competition from fellow Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.

The newspaper goes on to suggest Schneiderlin’s exit is likely to be permanent, as both clubs are prepared to offer around £20m for the former Southampton defensive midfielder.

The 27-year-old Frenchman, who joined United last year, had to endure a frustrating first season at Old Trafford and things haven’t changed for him since Jose Mourinho’s arrival.

Schneiderlin has only played 147 minutes in all competitions for United since the start of the season and is yet to start a Premier League game this term.

The former France international has obviously lost his confidence and that’s clear for all to see when he’s on the pitch.

He’s too static in his off-the-ball movement and his defensive performances have also been far from good enough for a player hoping to force himself into the manager’s plans.

It doesn’t seem like Schneiderlin will get enough chances to play at United, so maybe it’d be better for the player to search for first-team football elsewhere, especially if he wants to regain his confidence and get back into the French national team squad.
