Report: 22-year-old Manchester United flop set for Russia move

Depay

Russian league leaders Spartak Moscow are interested in signing out-of-favour Manchester United winger Memphis Depay in January, according to Russian newspaper Sport Express.

The report claims the Russian giants are keen to sign the Netherlands international on an initial loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Depay, who’s been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho’s arrival, has only started one game for United so far this season.

He’s been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the past couple of months and it appears as though his departure is inevitable.

Depay joined United from PSV Eindhoven last year, but has fallen way below the expectations since his move.

He was widely regarded as one of the best talents in world football prior to his move to Manchester United, but could now find himself in snowy Russia as early as January.

If the transfer materializes, Depay would join his teammate from the Netherlands national team, Quincy Promes, in Moscow.

Even though Depay has been a major disappointment at Old Trafford, his signing would be a huge coup for Spartak Moscow ahead of the final few months of their domestic season.
